What does the term 'excess' means when you hire a car? Excess is a maximum amount of money the hirer will have to pay in case of car damage. For example, if the rented car has insurance with a 400 Euro excess and the car was damaged during the rent, then the car hire company can take up to 400 Euros for repairs. The opposite option is to hire a car with zero excess or no excess - in case of car damage, the renter doesn't pay any extra money, because he initially chose to hire a car with insurance without excess (also called 'fully comprehensive car insurance'). Below you will find such offers for hiring your holiday car with no excess - they are marked with a special label. Full insurance terms and conditions are written in the car rental agreement, please read it carefully before signing the agreement.
